Canterbury Rugby Union is seeking a Strength and Conditioning Intern to work in the women’s programme from May until September – specifically in the Women’s Academy and the Farah Palmer Cup (FPC) team. Specific dates and hours will be negotiated with the successful applicant but as a general guideline the role will entail up to 4 hours per week in the Academy, and from mid July with the FPC team up to 8 hours per week. This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to gain experience and insight into a High Performance Programme, as well as being part of a campaign.
Key requirements of the role are to:
Assist the lead S&C with the delivery of gym and field sessions
Assist the lead S&C with the collection and analysis of GPS data
Assist the lead S&C on home game days and lead game day replacement when team is away
Position requirements and competencies:
Recent graduate or working towards a degree or diploma in strength and conditioning, sport science or a similar field
Career aspirations to move into the high performance field
Previous experience in a rugby and/or sporting environment
Excellent communication, organisation, planning and relationship management skills
Ability to work as part of a team, as well as autonomously and solve problems in a face paced environment
Willingness to learn
